Collection: Revlon Scented Parfume Nail Polish

If you saw part one my Revlon Scented Parfume Nail Enamel Collection, you should know by know how much I love scented nail polishes. So I was extremely happy when I managed to pick up four more polishes to add to my collection from Xtras Online the other day for a merge £2.49 each (free P&P)! Boots are currently selling Bubblegum (the first shade on the left) for £6.49. I think these scents are from the American Revlon Scented Parfume Nail Polish range (hence why the writing is slightly different compared to the UK ones) but either way I'm looking forward to trying them out.

Have you tried any scented nail polishes?

Review
I managed to pick this up from a blog sale after the blogger advised it made her skin look too oily so she was selling it on. The BB cream has a scent to it which I personally don't mind as it's not something which bothers me but some people may find overpowering. When I first swatched the bb cream the consistency of it looked really heavy and the shade of looked too dark for my skin but after I fully blended it in, it matched my skin tone and provided a light sheer coverage. The cream doesn't cover any blemishes or imperfections so I did need to use a concealer with this. The BB cream gives a shiny/dewy finish which I personally don't like as it as it tends to look oily on my skin (I have combination skin), so I use a powder on top of it to make it matt.

(before & after - no powder has been used)

Final Thoughts
I do like the BB cream despite it's "shiny" finish. It's perfect for day-to-day wear instead of wearing a foundation. It's a bonus that it comes with SPF15 so it would be great in the summer months. I haven't seen any improvement in my skin, so I'm not fully convinced of it's perfecting properties. I do feel it's a bit overpriced so I wouldn't pay full price for this product (I paid £5 for this but I would happily pay up to £8 for it). Overall I would repurchase this again as I like using for day-to-day-wear and giving my skin a bit of a breather from wearing foundation.

Available from Boots and Superdrug for £9.99.

Review: Beauty UK Eyeshadow Palette in Number #2 Soho (+ Swatches)

I've had this palette for a while so I thought it was about time I shared some swatches of it and gave my two cents on the palette. I managed to pick up this palette for around £1 off eBay a while ago. I've heard mixed reviews of these palettes but for a pound I decided to give it a go. This palette is full of matte colours which was a nice change considering most of the low end eyeshadow palettes tend to be full of shimmery eyeshadows. The palette consists of mainly blues and purples with a few other colours thrown in.

I've swatched the eyeshadows dry and without primer to give a true picture of what they look like. On first glance I noticed that they have a chalky texture to them which is not surprising considering the one of the ingredients in them is Talc. When I first applied them I noticed a lot of fall out of the product which is a bit of a pain especially if you've already applied your foundation or concealer beneath your eyes. One thing that I did find, is when I used them with a primer the colour intensity of them did increase slightly.

Overall for the price is a great buy considering it has matte shades and the colour range it okay but it's not something I would repurchase or use frequently due to the fall out and not liking the texture of the eyeshadows.

Currently available from Superdrug for £2.99 (normally £3.99) or from the Beauty UK website for £3.99.

P.S Please remember to vote for me in the Handmade Reviews Beauty Blog Awards 2011. I would be extremely grateful. All entries also get put in a prize draw for a chance to win some beauty goodies. Thank you. :)

EOTD: MUA Pro Heaven & Earth Eyeshadow Palette (+ Swatches)

I'm sure that everyone has seen and heard of this MUA Professional eyeshadow palette. After all it's a bargain at £4 and hailed as the affordable Urban Decay Naked Palette dupe. Even though I own the Naked palette, I still had to get my hands on this MUA palette after all who can pass up an opportunity to get twelve fantastic eyeshadows for £4?

The Palette

I don't do many EOTD (Eyes of The Day) posts as quite frankly I'm not that talented when it comes to blending and all the other techniques that come along with applying awesome eye makeup but today I thought I would give it a shot and share with you the look that I created using the palette.

The Look

Here's What I Used

The Steps

1. First apply an eye primer over eye & brow bone. I suggest that you use a different primer then the ELF Studio Primer (I've heard that the other primer that ELF do the one £1.50 one is much better) because this one isn't great and still causes the eyeshadow to crease.

2. Then apply the eyeshadow #2 all over the lid using the flat end of the black Avon eyeshadow brush.

3. Then apply the eyeshadow #5 in the crease and outer corner of the eye using the Ruby & Millie i-Brush (the brush above the Sigma one).

4. Take the eyeshadow #4 and apply to the inner corner of the eye.

5. Take the Sigma brush and apply eyehsadow #1  over the brow bone & work down towards the crease and make sure it's blended and there are no harsh lines.

6. Take the Avon eyeshadow brush and use the flat end to apply a line of eyeshadow #12 underneath your bottom lashes. Take a cotton bud and gently blend/smudge it.

7. Line your top lashes and waterline using the Maybelline Expert Eyes Soft Kohl Eye Pencil in Black.

8. Apply two to three coats of 17 Falsifeye Mascara in Black or Extreme Black to the top and bottom lashes.

9. Depending on brow colour take eyeshadow #7 and fill in your brows using the Ruby & Millie angled eye brush (the one beneath the Sigma brush).

10. Apply concealer where necessary and use a sponge or fingers to blend.

11. Apply a lipbalm or lipstick of your choice.

I hope this has been useful. Please let me know what you think of the look.

Cosmopolitan Beauty Goodie Bag

A few weeks ago I entered a competition on 30 Days of Fashion & Beauty to win a Cosmopolitan Beauty Goodie Bag. I didn't expect to win as there were probably thousands of other entrants and there were only 10 goodie bags available to win. Yesterday I got an email stating that I had won a goodie bag and it would be with me shortly. Today the postman arrived with a huge parcel and it was the goodie bag! At first I was shocked I didn't expect it to be so big. I only expected a few products to be in there. But here's what I found inside...

Collection: 17 Mirror Shine Lipsticks in Beehive, Belle, Flirtini & Nudist Peach

A few weeks ago I purchased some 17 Mirror Shine On Lipsticks (RRP £4.59) as Boots were having a promotion were they were half price and if you bought any two 17 items you got a free make up palette. There are a total of 10 different colours in the collection. The collection contains mostly nudes and coral colours. I picked up three nude colours along with one pinky/red colour which is the shade Flirtini. The lipsticks are like non-sticky lipglosses with a hint of colour in them. Today I thought I would share the shades I picked up along with swatches of them.

Here are the lipsticks and the swatches

What do you think of the shades? Which 17 Mirror Shine Lipsticks have you tried?
