Elf Beauty Clutch (+ Swatches)

Today I bring you the Elf Beauty Clutch* (ELF | £7.50). It's a sturdy, black plastic case (complete with a mirror inside) containing 32 eyeshadows, a bronzer, 2 blushes, a face shimmer highlighter, 6 lip products and two eyebrow products.

The top of the palette contains the eyeshadows, along with a mirror and three sponge applicators. The palette contains mostly shimmery shades along with a few matte ones. The colours consist of browns, pinks, greens, blues, purples, greys and black shades.

(swatched with an eyeshadow primer underneath)

Underneath the eyeshadow palette there is a pull out draw/tray which holds the bronzer, blushes, face shimmer/highlighter, lip products and brow products. All the products are in powder form apart from the face shimmer and eyebrow cream.

I think this a great product for someone who is just starting out in makeup as it has everything they could possibly need and it's great value for money considering you get over forty products. It's also something that could be used for travel as it's quite compact.

Small MUA Haul

After hearing that MUA had a sale on their eyeshadow palettes (they are normally £4 but they are currently on offer for £3) I decided to buy some more palettes and other bits via their new website. I've had my eye on Glamour Days and Glamour Nights for quite a while but my local Superdrug stores don't seem to stock them, the same thing with the lipsticks. As far as I know the lipsticks are relatively new and it looks like MUA has finally listened to us all and given their lipsticks some actual shade names. I've only swatched them so far but I'm loving what I see. They seem a bit like the 17 Mirror Shine On Lipsticks (click here for swatches) which the added bonus of them being only fraction of the price. The single eyeshadow I picked up after reading Incense and Peppermints post about how she uses it as a brow powder. I've been currently using a semi-matt shade from the MUA Professional Heaven & Earth palette (click here for swatches & a review) to set my brows but I am really looking forward to seeing if this is a better match.

Review: Purity Organic Skincare Range

A few weeks ago I was sent some products from the Purity Organic Skincare range. I'd never heard of them before so I was eager to try out the products and see what they were like as I was intrigued by the concept of the company and the concept behind their products.

About: Purity Organic Skincare is an award winning British brand, conceived and created to bring intelligent, sustainable and organic beauty to each and every one of us. Purity Organic Skincare is Ecocert certified with 98% of the ingredients of natural origin and a minimum of 70% of the ingredients processed from organic farming. Purity Organic Skincare is free from parabens, GM, silicones, SLS and synthetic fragrances. The packaging is fully recyclable and the range is not tested on animals.

Purity Organic Skincare Facial Wash 150ml £4.99* - A blend of softening, moisture retaining and condition Sweet Almond Oil, Aloe Vera and Glycerine is combined within a gentle Coconut and sugar-base foam to cleanse, soothe and protect skin. Added Citric Acid controls skin PH levels.

I was a bit unsure at first as to whether this would effectively cleanse my skin but I was pleasantly surprised. Despite the lack of SLS in the cleanser it does have some later to it. It cleanses my skin well and I feel that it would be suitable for those with a normal to combination skin and those with sensitive skin as well.

Purity Organic Skincare Conditioning Cleansing Lotion 150ml £4.99* - An effective skin conditioning cleanser with a blend of clever ingredients which effectively break down and gently remove the day's grime and make-up. Special ingredients combine with the softening, moisture retaining and conditioning Sweet Almond Oil, Aloe Vera and Glycerine base: Oats condition and restore, Amino Acids help skin to absorb moisture, Avocado Oil conditions the skin and the Euphrasia and Rose Water tones the skin.

At first I just put this on a cotton wool round and used it to remove my face make up but after seeing Lisa Eldridge's video using the cleansing lotion (click here) I decided to try the method she used and I have to say it works wonder. Basically you apply a generous coat over your face and then remove with a cotton wool round and keep repeating until there is no trace of make up left. It removes make up easily and leaves my skin feeling soft.

Purity Organic Skincare Facial Exfoliator 100ml £5.99* - A deep pore cleanser using rounded, ground, coconut shell to exfoliate within a blend of softening, moisturising retaining and conditioning Coconut Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Glycerine and Aloe Vera to leave your skin cleaner, softer and brighter.

This has to be one of my favourite products from the range. I love the consistency of it and the fact it's not too harsh on my skin. It's gentle enough to be used either once a day or a few times a week depending on your preference.

Purity Organic Skincare Overnight Moisturiser 50ml £7.99* - A deep, repairing and healing cream. Sweet Almond Oil, Beeswax and Aloe Vera soften and protect the skin. Ceramide 3 reinforces the moisture barrier of the skin and improves the long term moisturisation, protecting against sustained daytime environmental damage. Added Vitamin E improves the skin's health, leaving it restore, regenerated and ready to face another day.

The texture of this isn't what I expected. It's more a like a body butter for your face. When I first applied it, the cream seemed a bit tacky but after it's sunk in it makes my face feel smooth and doesn't make it feel oily or sticky at all.

Purity Organic Skincare Anti-Aging Moisturiser 50ml £7.99* - A powerful moisturiser to improve and protect the skin, rich in Cranberry Seed Oil with Omega 3, 6 and 9 the essential fatty acids your skin needs to help prevent ageing. Also contains Rosehip Seed Oil, renowned for its powerful skin-conditioning and restorative properties and Vitamin E as a protecting antioxidant. Ceramide 3 limits the loss of water from the skin and Rose Flower Water acts as a skin toner. These hard-working ingredients are blended in Sweet Almond Oil, Shea Butter, Beeswax and Aloe Vera and combine to boost the skin's own functions and help prevent premature aging.

Like the moisturiser the cream has a consistency which is a bit like a body butter but for your face. I didn't really notice any results in the anti-aging department as I'm only young so I can't really comment on that but I do like the softness it gives once the cream has sunk in.

Purity Organic Skincare Anti-Aging Serum & Mask 50ml £8.99
* - A powerful treatment to boost your skin's natural regeneration process. Sweet Almond Oil and Aloe Vera combine with Cranberry Seed Oil, rich in Omega 3, 6 and 9 help repair the skin and antioxidant Vitamin E improves and protects the look and feel of the skin.

I only managed to use this once. I applied a thin layer all over my face and left it on overnight. I expected it to break my skin out because of the consistency of it but it didn't. I woke up with smoother skin and my skin felt really refreshed.

Final Thoughts: I think the range is very reasonably priced for what it offers and I haven't seen anything else similar in Boots, Superdrug, ect. The packaging is simple and I love the fact the ingredients are clearly labelled and easy to read. One thing I would love to see in the range is an eye make up remover as it would really complete the range (plus it would be a huge bonus to have an eye make up remover with minimal, organic ingredients so easily available).

My Everyday Make Up Storage

I've been on the hunt for some makeup storage for a while now but everything I seem to come across I just don't like or it's a bit too expensive. The other day when I went to ASDA I went down the stationary isle for some reason or other and I came across this hard plastic desk organizer for a mere £3. I didn't think much of it at first and left the store without purchasing it but a few days later when I went back to ADSA I knew I had to get it as it would be useful for storing my everyday makeup.

The organizer has seven different compartments and a holder at the back (which I assume is for paper). The compartments are quite wide and not as narrow as you'd expect with normal desk organizers. I've tried to group things by face, eyes, lips, ect so it's quick and easy to find things. I have quite a few lipsticks, mascaras and concealers in the organizer as I like to switch things up so I don't get bored of the same product. I'm really pleased with how it looks as it looks really neat and tidy.

Here's what's in the compartments...

17 Mirror Shine On Lipstick in Beehive (Boots | £4.59) (swatches here); Palmer's Moisturising Lip Balm (Boots | £1.83); Natural Collection Moisture Shine Lipstick in Sweet Pea; Bourjois Lovely Brille Lipstick in Sable Fin (eBay | £2.50) & Avon ColourTrend Lipstick in Kiss Me.

MUA Mascara Shade 1 (Superdrug | £1.00); E.L.F Lip Lock Pencil in Clear; MUA Professional Eye Primer; Rimmel London 1000 Vinyl Carat Multi Reflection Lipgloss (eBay | £3.49) & MUA Professional Primer (Superdrug | £4.00)

Stippling Brush (eBay | £2.18) ; ELF Professional Total Face Brush; Ruby & Millie Face Brush; Sigma E25 Blending Brush (Sigma | $9.00); No7 Smokey Eyeliner Brush (eBay | £6.99); Ruby & Millie Eye Brush; Avon Eyeshadow Brush; ELF Total Eyeshadow Brush; Eyebrow Razor (eBay | £1.00) & Superdrug Tweezers.

MUA Immaculate Palette & MUA Heaven & Earth (Superdrug | £4.00) (review & swatches here)
